Beefalo, are 3/8 Bison and 5/8 Bovine. The breed was first intentionally created during the mid-19th century to combine the characteristics of both animals for beef production. They were once described by naturalist Ernest Thompson Seton as being: ” …more docile and a better milker than the Buffalo“.

A fullblood, registered Beefalo is a 37.5% American Bison cross. According to The American Beefalo Association, ABA, Beefalo has 79% less fat, 66% less calories and 1/3 less cholesterol than traditional beef.
The ABA is the official route of registration for Beefalo farmers around the country to verify with the USDA that their herds are proven Beefalo.
