One of life’s little lies is all about the bean sprout. Bean sprouts are a vegetable grown from the Mung Bean. The taste is described as earthy, crisp, and has an almost mild grassy flavor. They are extensively grown and consumed in East Asia and are mostly used in soups and stir-fry across the culinary cuisines.
If you ever want to grow such a bean, you can do this at home by sprouting the beans in a jar. Place a fine mesh or muslin cloth tied over the top of the jar with a rubber band or string. Pour fresh water into the jar three to four times a day. Turn the jar upside down to drain the excess water and within 5 days or so you’ll have fresh bean sprouts.
